The Isles of Uther
The Chikara originated in their own Elven kingdom that steadily grew. Instead of being fixated on arts, their long lives are instead spent on more practical things. The highest class in their society is the military. Farmers are the second highest class in society because they produce food, which is necessary to life. Artisans are the third class because they produce goods that can be useful, but also are sometimes pointless. The fourth and least class is that of merchants and traders. They do not produce anything useful and so are the lowest class. The various classes are easy to differentiate by the complexity of their clothes and the appearance of their homes. A child can be taken on as an apprentice by another class than that of its parents. Military service is necessary for all between the ages of 16 and 30. After the mandatory service many choose to stay in the military for periods of 14 years. The great focus on military has lead to them occupying a neighbouring country for over a hundred years. The men of that nation began to interbreed with the elves of Chikara and adopt many aspects of the culture. From an aesthetics view point, Chikaran clothing and buildings are Japanese in appearance.
All leaders come from a military background. A new king is always chosen from the generals of the armies when the last king dies. Generals command an army but also are lords of designated areas of land. Wealth is accumulated in taxes from all classes then paid out to those in the military class. The military then spends money on food and goods, thus circulating money.
